The "world's fastest" 2.5-inch 15k RPM hard drive

When you see the title, you will wonder what type of hard drive can compete with my current hard drive. Yes, there is and it's Seagate New Savvio 15k that expand the exisiting 2.5-inch SAS interprise hard drive with two 15k RPM models. This Hard drive are clearly designed for servers and enterprise application, however rumors said that it can fit just righ on your laptop.

According to Seagate, the drive will not only increase the storage performance in rackserver environments but provide greater power efficiency and reliability as well. These drives built on PMR and available in sizes 36GB and 73GB, Seagate also claims that their new Savvio 15k RPM hard drive consume 25% less power than the 3.5-inch Cheetah 15k.4 drives and in terms of performance, Savvio offers 10% faster seek time and 40% faster sustained data transfer rates. Not just that, Seagate stress out that they promise the reliability of this Savvio is at 1.6 millions Mean Time Between Failure. No words from Seagate about the price and the availabilty, however the company said that you gotta pay premium for it.
